Palisades Park is located in Oneonta, Alabama, just north of Birmingham, and is one of the first stops on the Sandstone Belt that traverses north to Chattanooga. The area is compact with short (30 to 80 ft.) but good quality sandstone. Palisades is a great place for beginner climbers to learn technique and transition to the outdoors. The wall also sets up easily for a top rope so there is lots of area to practice for that next big lead. There are a handful of established boulders and possibly more to uncover.
What to Expect
Palisades is a south facing crag, consisting of approximately 100 routes and boulder problems. The area is great for beginners to expert climbers. A permit is required to climb at Palisades. Please fill out the permit online or visit the park office to obtain a permit each time you visit the park. A permit costs $5 and is good for 3 days.

- Pad all trees when top-roping or rappelling.
- Permits will NOT be issued after: 6:00pm April thru September, 3:00pm October thru March
- Leave No Trace: Keep this area beautiful and clean. Clean up after yourselves, your peers, and your pets. Lead by example and pick it up on the first pass.
